Biography


Anthony Johnson, M.F.A. Utah State University

     Anthony Johnson currently teaches Music and Theatre, he is the Director of choir and band for the Sheridan, Montana School District.  During his 23 years as an artist his vocal talents have spanned the globe and many of his design works range from Dance and opera to live concerts such as Peter Cetera, in his America Salutes Concert, and the British Invasion Band out of New Jersey.
      He is in demand as a designer/performer throughout the United States and is quite comfortable across a broad range of artistic disciplines.  Besides designing, Mr. Johnson has traveled extensively as an avid performer to Italy, Greece, London, and New York to showcase his singing and directing, as well as producing 2 cd’s featuring his vocal talents.  Mr. Johnson has performed such roles as Pseudolus in A Funny thing happened on the Way to the Forum with Idaho State University, Eisenstein in Die Fleadermaus, Idaho State University, Little Batt McClean in Susannah, Nanki Poo in The Mikado with Coeur D’Alene Opera, Daddy Warbucks in Annie the Musical with Stage door to the Future, and Tamino in The Magic Flute with Eastern Washington University. And has performed Madame Butterfly and Sweeney Todd with the Spokane Opera.
     Anthony has long been an advocate for the fine and performing arts in education, and continues to work to keep the arts in rural communities as well as schools, despite the shift away from arts in public schools. 
     His theatre accolades include Blood Wedding (Molloy College) and The Real Inspector Hound (Molloy College) in New York City, Macbeth (Kennedy Center) Washington DC. Other credits in technical direction and design including; Guys and Dolls, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Music Theatre West-Logan, Utah), Seussical the Musical, High School Musical, and All Shook Up (Idaho State Rep. Theatre-Pocatello, Idaho), Little Shop of Horrors, Blithe Spirit, and The Elephant Man (Old Lyric Repertoire Company-Logan, Utah) The Magic Flute (Utah State Opera-Logan, Utah) Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Godspell, and Eurydice (University of West Alabama-Livingston, Alabama), Firebird Ballet (Cache Valley Ballet Company-Logan, Utah) He has also been a resident for the Old Lyric Repertoire Company in Logan, Utah for the past three seasons and looks forwarding to returning for years to come, as well as the Idaho State Summer Repertoire Company in Pocatello, Idaho. Johnson was awarded KCACTF National Award winning Finalist for his Lighting Design for Issun Boshi in 2010.
      He was the Co-Founder of Darkmoon Lighting Industries (a professional production company), which provides several different aspect of the production approach of the performing arts.  He is currently in the process of opening a recording studio.
